Care Connection to help People Enroll in Health Insurance

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has designated Care Connection for Aging Services, a not-for-profit organization, to assess the needs of older people.

The organization has now announced that it will provide help to people in the Health Insurance Marketplace at Cottey College on December 6. The Health Insurance Marketplace helps those people who are uninsured and guide them to enroll in health coverage.

The event will be open to the public and scheduled to take place on December 6 between 10 am to 2 pm in the college campus at 1000 W. Austin Blvd. There will be trained counselors of Care Connection for Aging Services at the event.

They will help people in navigating the maze of the online federal Marketplace. As per reports, open enrollment will take place through February. To make a plan effective from January 1, individuals must enroll by mid-December.

Marketplace enrollment help of Care Connection has been given free of charge and its licensed navigators do not sell anything. The marketplace could offer private health insurance savings that are based on an individual's income.

In a press release, Care Connection stated that most of the people who have applied for insurance through online have qualified for tax credits and savings on out-of-pocket costs that are based on income and household size.

The press release stated, 'Most people must have health insurance or face a fee of 2 percent of their income, or $325 for each adult and $162.50 for each child in 2015 -- whichever is higher, according to the federal government'.

As per the law, it is important for people to have health insurance. They can have insurance from Medicare, Medicaid, or Marketplace plan.
