...Cleric says majority are Christians President meets Borno gov, school principalThe immediate-past Chairman of Northern States Christian and Elders Forum, Evangelist Mathew Owojaiye yesterday released the names of the students abducted by the Boko Haram sect at Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
The cleric, who alleged that 90 per cent of the abducted school girls are Christians, however, demanded N50m for each of the students.
A record of the captive girls made available to journalists yesterday by the President/ Founder of Old Time Revival Hour, Kaduna, revealed the identities of 180 students.
The document, entitled 'Abomination! Abomination!! Christian girls abducted in Chibok, Borno State', urged Nigerians to pray so that no harm would befall the girls.
The demands include N50m as trauma compensation to each girl; take each girl to an overseas university on government scholarship by September 2014; and SS1 and SS2 girls in the school must be transferred to schools of their choice.
The association said: 'How can any girl feel safe in this kind of school? Living in perpetual fear of attack? Let God arise, let all His enemies be scattered.
'Daughters of Zion taken captive to be treated as slaves and sold into marriage to unclean people. Abomination has been committed. Raise lamentation to High Heavens. What a shame on the Church of the Living God.
'Chibok Local Government is 90 per cent Christians. Majority of the abducted girls are Christians! Why did Boko Haram visit Chibok Local Government? Why didn't they visit so many other local government girls' secondary schools in Borno State?
'The church in Nigeria is hereby called to a lamentation prayer. Time: Every Christian home must raise a lamentation to heaven daily. Let God arise and defend his name, honour and majesty. Let a 15-minute cry to heaven be done in every church, every time they gather.
'Oh God, rent the Heavens and come down! Why should the people say where is our God? The military may not be able to solve the problem but prayer will. Ordinary military force may not get them out! Intensive agonising prayer will do that.'
In a related development, President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday night met behind closed door with the state Governor, Kashim Shettima, the school principal, the state education commissioner, local government chairman of Chibok and other officials of the state and the school.
Also at the meeting were Vice-President Namadi Sambo, the security chiefs and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.
At the end of the meeting, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said that the meeting was a follow-up to the security meeting the President held with security chiefs.
According to him, no stone would be left unturned to ensure that the school girls are brought back safely, stressing that that there is complete cooperation at all levels including federal, state, local government, community and other stakeholders .
Abati said the President had given clear directives that everything must be done to ensure that the school girls were brought back to safety.
'There was a lot of discussion; this is the first time the President will be meeting with some of the key persons involved like the principal of the school. Before now, the President and the governor of the state have been meeting regularly and have been discussing.
'A lot of information was given, but you should know that this is also a security meeting, at this stage, with all the efforts of the Federal Government, not every detail can be put in the public domain, particularly as there have been indication that those responsible for the abduction have been issuing all kinds of threats. You know that security operation will not require every detail to be put in public domain.
'What is clear is the determination, the commitment, the resolve of the President personally and of the government to ensure that these girls are brought to safety,' Abati said

On the exact number of girls abducted, Abati said the issue should not be about number, saying that even if it was one person, the safety of every Nigerian was very important.
'I don't want to deal with number, you know what the issue of numbers has been. And I don't think the issue is about number, even if it is one person, the safety of every Nigerian is important. The security and the safety of Nigerians, be they girls or boys, be they students or workers, that is the commitment of the Federal Government to ensure that they are brought back to safety,' he said.
