NEWARK (CBSNewYork) - Two young teens were gunned down in Newark late Christmas night.
Details of the shootings are sketchy.
A 13-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy were shot, authorities said. Both were pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m. at UMDNJ Hospital in Newark.
A third child was in critical but stable condition Wednesday night, authorities said.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the Newark Police Department are investigating the case, authorities said.
Officials characterized the investigation as active and ongoing.
