Miley Cyrus put on a very emotional show last night at Art Basel, revealing that she had been in a 'dark place' this year following the death of her dog Floyd.
The singer performed at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. on Wednesday, stripping down to pasties and even smoking pot on stage.
The 22-year-old appeared on stage wearing a silver wig, a onesie and turquoise eye shadow as she told the audience that she appreciated that they were an art crowd and probably did not like her music, reported Page Six.
'You thought [Art Basel] was a respected place where you could escape me,' Cyrus said, who talked about how difficult the year has been after learning that her dog was killed by a coyote in the garden of her Los Angeles home.
'This year has constantly challenged me, and that's why I started doing art,' she said.
Cyrus also added that Floyd's death took her to a dark place, but it was a 'wake up call' and made her realize what she was doing was meaningless.
Cyrus performed a song called 'Twinkle' and said that she wrote the song after her friend's dead cat spoke to her in a dream.
The singer also covered songs from Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin and was joined on stage by Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne. According to Page Six, the two were dressed in a giant rainbow with their heads sticking out as they sang the song, 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' by The Beatles.
Cyrus' performance became even more bizarre when people joined the singer on stage dressed in shark costumes, a man dressed as a penis and a giant mushroom.
'Usually I don't smoke weed and drink, well that's a lie ... usually I don't smoke weed and drink on show days, but I felt it was fine in Miami,' Cyrus said.
Cyrus ended her performance by pulling back her top and revealing silver pasties on her chest. Fake five dollar bills also fell into the crowd with her face on them.
