Brave: Wallenda walked without any harnesses or any safety precautions at Grand Canyon last year
Last year he became the first to traverse the Grand Canyon.
'The blindfold is a whole new dilemma. It is taking away the most important sense a wirewalker has,' he told the Telegraph.
Wallenda's grandfather Karl fell to his death while tightrope walking between two high rise buildings in Puerto Rico at the age of 73 in 1978.
His mother, Delilah performed a highwire stunt when she was six months pregnant with Nik.
'I'm very nervous about him doing the blindfold because that's not something that he's accustomed to. It's a new thing he's started doing,' Delilah said.
If Nik Wallenda completes today's challenge he will have bagged 10 World Records.
