Air Force One developed a mechanical problem while President Obama was on a campaign stop in Philadelphia on Sunday night, forcing his transfer to a backup plane for the return trip to Washington.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz said there was a 'minor mechanical problem' with one of the aircraft's flaps. He said the switch to a backup C-32 plane did not affect the president's schedule.

Mr. Obama was using a smaller Air Force One plane instead of the larger one in the fleet for a campaign swing to Connecticut and Pennsylvania. There were very windy conditions during the flights but passengers didn't notice any problems.
