Woman who died of Heart Attack in Brooklyn to be tested for Ebola Virus


On Tuesday, a woman died of heart attack in Brooklyn. As per the regional health authorities, she will be tested for Ebola virus as she had recently returned from West Africa. The woman died at a hair salon in the Brownsville neighborhood. At 3.30 pm, a 911 call unveiled about the death.


The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene affirmed that the woman has returned from America 18 days ago from Guinea, which is one of the countries of West Africa dealing with the Ebola outbreak.


Experts said the woman had not shown any symptoms of Ebola virus before the death. But for precautionary purposes, the tests will be performed. It has been found that police, fire crews, the Office of Emergency Management, the New York City Medical Examiner's office and the Health Department were present at the scene.


In fact, decontamination units were also present at the scene. A spokeswoman was of the view that the tests will be done out of an abundance of caution. Its results are expected on early Wednesday.


Dr. Craig Spencer is the only confirmed case of the virus in New York City. After completely recovering from the illness, he was released from Bellevue Hospital last week.


In October, the city publicized that it will be actively monitoring hundreds of travelers returning from Ebola-hit countries in West Africa and mainly in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. The authorities affirmed that contact will also be maintained with them during the virus' 21-day incubation period. Ebola virus has proved to be the worst outbreak that has taken place lately. Active steps are being taken by countries across world to restrict it.
