Clemson Overcomes Its Offense and Syracuse

Chase Edmonds ran for five touchdowns on Saturday as Fordham defended its top conference standing with a victory over host Lehigh, 48-27.


Edmonds, who set a program record for freshmen with 231 yards in Fordham's 54-7 victory over Rhode Island earlier this season, had 197 yards on 32 carries for the Rams (7-1, 3-0 Patriot League). Mike Nebrich completed 20 of 27 passes for 292 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown pass to Dan Light in the second quarter.


Fordham outgained Lehigh (1-6, 0-2) in total offense by 588 yards to 317.


GA. TECH 56, PITTSBURGH 28 Broderick Snoddy ran for 82 yards and three touchdowns, and Georgia Tech took advantage of six Pittsburgh turnovers in a road win. Georgia Tech (6-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) ended a two-game losing streak by racing to a quick 28-0 lead. Pittsburgh (4-4, 2-2) gave the ball away on each of its first five possessions. WISCONSIN 52, MARYLAND 7 Melvin Gordon rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns, and Wisconsin's restocked defense stifled visiting Maryland. Gordon had his three scores in the first half for the Badgers (5-2, 2-1 Big Ten), and Joel Stave threw for two scores in the second half. Maryland (5-3, 2-2)avoided its first shutout of the season on a score with 57 seconds left. NAVY 41, SAN JOSE ST. 31 After falling behind by 3-0, host Navy scored on seven straight possessions. Navy used a 24-point second quarter to go up by 24-17 at halftime, then took control in the third quarter with a 98-yard drive that ended with a touchdown and a 31-17 lead.



YALE 43, PENN 21 Morgan Roberts completed 26 of 29 passes for 346 yards and four touchdowns to three different receivers as host Yale pounded Pennsylvania. B.C. 23, WAKE FOREST 17 Jon Hilliman rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns, and visiting Boston College (5-3, 1-2 A.C.C.)held on to beat Wake Forest (2-6, 0-3). Boston College nearly blew a 23-3 lead in the fourth quarter and did not put Wake Forest away until a late interception by Justin Simmons.


DARTMOUTH 27, COLUMBIA 7 Alex Park passed for 268 yards and two touchdowns, Kyle Bramble rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown and visiting Dartmouth (5-1, 3-0 Ivy League) handed Columbia (0-6, 0-3) its 17th straight loss. BROWN 42, CORNELL 16 Marcus Fuller passed for 306 yards and four touchdowns to lead host Brown (3-3, 1-2 Ivy) over Cornell (0-6, 0-3). Brown took charge on its first possession as Fuller threw two 35-yard completions to Alexander Jette and Brian Strachan to set up Andrew Coke's 2-yard touchdown plunge. ST. FRANCIS (PA.) 30, S. HEART 27 Zach Drayer had four touchdowns and Lance Geesey kicked the winning 35-yard field goal to lift St. Francis (3-5, 1-2) to its first Northeast Conference win this season over host Sacred Heart (6-2, 2-1).


WAGNER 20, C.C.S.U. 10 Chris Andrews rushed for two touchdowns, and visiting Wagner won its third straight in a victory over Central Connecticut State.


U.N.H. 28, STONY BROOK 20 Cam Shorey blocked Graham Ball's potential game-tying extra point, Jimmy Owens broke a 51-yard touchdown run on the ensuing drive, and host New Hampshire (6-1, 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association) held on to beat Stony Brook (4-5, 3-2).
