As President Barack Obama pushes his plan for action against the Islamic State, a new video has surfaced that supposedly shows the beheading of a British aid worker at the hands of the militant group. NY1's Lori Chung filed the following report.

An Islamic state executioner stood over British hostage David Haines moments before he was beheaded.

It was a horrifying sight that's become all too familiar as the group released its latest video, titled 'A message to the allies of America,' in response to U.S. air strikes in Iraq, action supported by British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The 44-year-old aid worker was captured last year. His death comes after the videotaped beheadings of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff.

As the White House works to build an international coalition to defeat the militant group, President Barack Obama condemned the killing, saying, 'Our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Haines and to the people of the United Kingdom. The United States stands shoulder to shoulder tonight with our close friend and ally in grief and resolve. We will work with the United Kingdom and a broad coalition of nations from the region and around the world to bring the perpetrators of this outrageous act to justice, and to degrade and destroy this threat to the people of our countries, the region and the world.'

'It's only a matter of time before the threat of terrorism anywhere becomes the threat of terrorism everywhere,' said Secretary of State John Kerry.

Kerry is making the rounds in the region, trying to convince allies to help take the fight to the Islamic State with more airstrikes and arms for Syrian rebels, and to keep the group from gaining any more ground.

'By addressing the illicit funding streams that come to ISIL, by stopping the flow of foreign fighters, which all countries could become engaged in, and by repudiating the gross distortion of Islam that ISIL is spreading to whoever will listen,' he said.

Obama says more airstrikes will be carried out in Iraq and Syria if need be but maintains that no U.S. boots will be placed on the ground. Meanwhile, the group is threatening to kill another hostage next, identified as British citizen Alan Henning.
