SOMALIA: Government forces raid two media houses and arrest staff

RBC (Mogadishu) Somali government peace keeping forces have shut down today a local radio stations that have been operating in Mogadishu, Somali capital.

Somali Peace keeping security agency have morning on Sunday raided and switched off Kulmiye and Simba radio stations that had been operating in Mogadishu while some of their staff were also taken into detention.

The exact motive behind this operation against these local radio stations is yet established but early reports indicate that it came after these radio stations aired program last night talking about the new leader that Al-shabab appointed after the murder of their former leader in U.S drones airstrike.

Security officers have taken members of the staff of these two radio station into Somali peace keeping agency center prison called Godka Jilicow in Mogadishu.

This is not the first operation that raided media houses and arrested press staff where the Somali government accused several media houses of airing propaganda and programs that is against peace in the country.
