According to NBC New York President Obama was turned away at several New York-area golf clubs because he didn't give enough notice for a tee time over Labor Day weekend.

Hey, Labor Day weekend is Labor Day weekend and you can't just be throwing 24-hour tee time advances around, even if you're the president.

Here's the story:

'The Trump National Golf Club, the Winged Foot and Willow Ridge were among some of the elite courses that rebuffed the president's request to tee off there, according to several sources who were told about the president's advance team's calls to the club managers.

The sources said the White House advance team was giving the clubs just a day or two notice to fill the president's open Saturday morning in New York.

Club managers apparently did not want to inconvenience their high-powered and high-paying members over Labor Day weekend by shutting down their courses to accommodate the president.'

Fair enough -- most of the members of those clubs probably have way more cash than the president does, though I'm not sure any carries as much power.

Still, it doesn't seem as if power (or influence) are at the top of the list of things these clubs care about.

'Some club officials said Obama is not the first head of state who has been rejected: sources said representatives of the King of Morocco also tried and failed to secure a tee time at some of the same courses that Labor Day weekend.'

The King of Morocco!
