One killed, two injured in parade route shooting


New York police are investigating several shootings that happened before the start of the West Indian Parade.


(NBC) - One person was killed and two others injured after a shooting along a parade route in New York City.


New York police say the shooting occurred around 3:30 Monday morning - hours before the annual West Indian Day parade.


A 55-year old man was killed. Police have arrested the suspected shooter.


Violence isn't news to this event.


In 2011, two people were stabbed to death along the parade route.


The annual event celebrates Caribbean culture.
