APPLE REPORTEDLY is gearing up to imminently release iOS 8.0.1, to squash bugs plaguing devices running iOS 8.
So says Macrumors, which heard that Apple had begun work on iOS 8.0.1 before last week's rollout of iOS 8 and has already released the update to network partners.
While Apple has yet to announce a release date, the report claims that iOS 8.0.1 will arrive 'fairly soon' with a host of bug fixes on board.
iOS 8.0.1 reportedly will include a fix for the Quicktype keyboard, with users - including The INQUIRER - having moaned that this randomly disappears in the Messages app. According to Macrumours, this keyboard fix will also address 'an issue with keypad not appearing to enter iCloud Keychain verification codes'.
The update reportedly will also patch the Safari glitch, with users reporting that the native web browser is sometimes unable to play videos, and provide a fix for an issue that prevents users from installing VPN profiles.
Apple has apparently also cooked up a fix for glitches plaguing its Phone app and Airdrop features, and Macrumours notes that the update likely will fix more issues than it is aware of at present. This means that there likely will also be patches for the WiFi and battery issues that users have bemoaned since iOS 8 was released last Wednesday.
Despite these problems, iOS 8 adoption has been swift, with 46 percent of iDevices users already running the latest Apple mobile operating system. In comparison, iOS 7 had hit 43 percent of iPhones and iPads this time last year. ยต
