A Catholic civil rights organization says it will not march in next year's St. Patrick's Day parade because of a fallout over the addition of a gay group.

Bill Donohue, the President of the Catholic League, says he was misled by parade organizers.

Donohue claims the parade committee promised to let a Catholic pro-life group march under its own banner for the first time.

That was supposed to be allowed under the same rule change that has let a gay NBC group into the 2015 parade.

But now Donohue says the pro-life group is not being let in, so the Catholic League is withdrawing.

In a statement, Donohue said, 'It has to do with being betrayed by the parade committee. They not only told me one thing, and did another, they decided to include a gay group that is neither Catholic nor Irish while stiffing pro-life Catholics. This is as stunning as it is indefensible.'

Some gay Irish Americans are not happy with the parade's compromise either.

Earlier this week, three LGBT organizations applied for entrance into the 2015 march.

Advocates said the addition of the NBC group is just a token gesture and that many gay groups are still being discriminated against.
