Apple's big

According to an AppleInsider report, the launch of the big-screen new iPhone models by Apple - the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus - will apparently unfold an opportunity for Apple to snap up Android switchers.

With Android-powered large-screen handsets and phablets having benefited from the fact that Apple, till now, did not have a big screen handset, the availability of Apple's next-generation iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones can attract Android users who want to switch over to the Apple iOS platform.

Since Samsung's big-screen Android-powered smartphones like Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note lineup having largely dominated the phablet arena thus far, Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley has projected that the launch of the new iPhone 6 models by Apple will primarily make a dent in the sales of Samsung's larger smartphones.

Pointing out that Samsung capitalized on the demand for big-screen handsets early on, Walkley said that the two new iPhone 6 variants will give Android users an impressive alternative to the existing larger smartphones in the market.

With Walkley noting that initial surveys have indicated that an abnormally high number of Android smartphone owners could possibly switch to the new iPhone 6 models, the AppleInsider report has revealed that Timothy Arcuri - analyst at Cowen & Company - 'also believes that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will target high-end Android switchers.'
