Amazon announces two refreshed tablets and four all

Online retail giant Amazon has recently enhanced its 'Kindle Fire' product lineup with two refreshed tablets and four all-new tablets. The announcement of the new tablets by Amazon comes ahead of Apple's widely-speculated launch of a refreshed iPad in late October.

The new 'Kindle Fire' tablets can be ordered immediately, and Amazon will start shipping them in early October.

The two refreshed Kindle Fire tablets include Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 and Kindle Fire HDX 7. For the refreshed $379 Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, Amazon has bumped up the processor from quad-core Snapdragon 800 to 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805; and the built-in Wi-Fi has been upgraded from 802.11n to the faster 802.11ac standard. The tablet also boasts the addition of Dolby Atmos surround sound technology and a new 'Dynamic Light Control' mode.

The refreshed version of the Kindle Fire HDX 7 merely brings a $30 price cut - slashing down the cost to $199 - with the hardware remaining unchanged.

The four all-new tablets announced by Amazon include two tablets - with 6-inch and 7-inch screens respectively - in a brand new Kindle Fire HD line; and two new Kindle Fire HD Kids Edition tablets, also in 6-inch and 7-inch variants.

The cost of the 6-inch and 7-inch new Kindle Fire HD tablets will respectively be $99 and $139; while the 6-inch Kindle Fire HD Kids Edition will cost $149, and the 7-inch model will be priced at $189.
