The White House on Friday defended President Obama for spending so much time on the golf course amid growing crises abroad and domestically.
'Sports and leisure activities are a good way for release and clearing of the mind for a lot of us,' White House deputy press secretary Eric Schultz told reporters in Martha's Vineyard.
'Just because the president is in a different location doesn't mean he is not doing his job,' Obama's spokesman added as the president wraps up a two-week vacation in Massachusetts.
Obama was widely criticized for choosing to golf directly after giving a speech in which he condemned the beheading of journalist James Foley.
