A fire broke out in a Midtown Manhattan high rise Friday, sending thick smoke and massive flames into the evening sky.
Several people reported seeing and smelling the smoke across the East River in Long Island City.
The FDNY was responding to the blaze, which broke out around 9 p.m. in a building very close to Rockefeller Center around 50th St. and 6th Ave.
It's unclear if the building is an office building or residential apartment. No injuries have been confirmed.
