Harrisburg: Cold to Make a Comeback by Christmas



Temperatures will take the plunge around Harrisburg this week, after 70-degree weather from this past weekend.


A few locations may even have a ground-whitening snow shower on Christmas Eve. Folks heading out during the afternoon and early evening should be prepared for slippery spots and delays.


By Christmas Day, temperatures will be 40 degrees lower when compared to last Sunday. The high on Christmas Day is forecast to be near 30 degrees.



Dry weather is forecast around Harrisburg from Christmas Day through Sunday. There is a slight chance of snow around New Year's Eve.


The cold will stabilize late in the week, with temperatures bouncing back to within a few degrees of normal Thursday into Saturday.


The warmth this past weekend has erased temperature departures of several degrees below normal for December. As a result, December is likely to finish up close to the normal mean temperature of 35.6 degrees.


November finished 2.9 degrees below the normal mean temperature of 44.1 degrees around Harrisburg.
