NASHVILLE (WATE) - Supporters and opponents of President Obama's immigration reform gathered outside the Nashville community center Casa Azafran Tuseday as he delivered a speech inside. Groups of undocumented immigrants came to send a message to Congress to support the president in working to help undocumented immigrant families stay in the United States.

'We are just pushing that no one ever has to go through the fear that we've lived with for all these years,' said Crossville resident Alysa Medina.

Medina traveled all the way from Crossville with her son Chavin, 8. Her husband is an undocumented immigrant and says her family lives with uncertainty every day.

'Whenever he goes to work I'm afraid he won't come back because he might get arrested or deported,' said Chavin.

However, crowds of opponents came too, holding signs demanding no amnesty. Some drove several hours to protest the plan.

'I believe it's about legal and illegal,' said Terry Hayes, who drove from Cleveland to speak out against the plan. 'I think it's a slap in the face to the people that have come here legally and have gone through the right channels.'
