Rice family hires high

(Cleveland) - The family of Tamir Rice has hired a high-profile attorney to represent them as they deal with the death of the 12-year-old who shot by a Cleveland police officer and later died. Attorney Benjamin Crump is now representing the Rice family. Crump, most recently, was hired by the family of Michael Brown, who was shot dead by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Crump also represented the family of Trayvon Martin, the black teenager who was shot dead in Florida by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.

Tamir Rice was shot last month by Cleveland police officer Timothy Loehmann, who responded to the Cudell Recreation Center with his partner on reports of a young man armed with a gun. Rice was shot in the torso and died the next day. The gun turned out to be a toy that shoots plastic projectiles. Officer Loehmann and his partner are off the streets, pending the outcome of the investigation.
