Missing Hollywood executive Gavin Smith's body found: report

Police Handouts

The body of a Hollywood movie executive who went missing two and a half years ago was found last week in Angeles National Forest and police are treating the case as a homicide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gavin Smith, a 57-year-old 20th Century Fox executive, was reported leaving a friend's Oak Park, Calif. home in his car on May 1, 2012.

Police recovered Smith's Mercedes nearly a year later in February 2013 in a Simi Valley storage facility owned by convicted drug dealer John Creech, whose wife Smith is alleged to have had an affair with, E! News reported.

No suspect has been named, police said.

Creech was named a person of interest in the case in 2013 and is currently in custody on a drug charge at the Men's Central Jail, NBC Los Angeles reported.

The 6-foot-6 Smith was part of UCLA's 1975 National Championship basketball squad before breaking into acting and then moving to the executive suite.

Investigators believe Smith was killed within a week of his disappearance.
