LSU CB Rashard Robinson suspended indefinitely, school announces

LSU starting cornerback Rashard Robinson will not dress out for Saturday's game against Alabama, sources close to LSU told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune. He will be replaced by junior Jalen Collins, one source said.

Robinson, a 6-feet-3, 177-pound sophomore from Pompano Beach, Fla., has played in eight games this season with six starts. He was suspended for LSU's season opener against Wisconsin and left at home with three other players.

Robinson has had academic issues in the past, being demoted during spring practice. He didn't join the program as a freshman until two days before the start of the 2013 season when the NCAA Clearinghouse confirmed his eligibility.

He has 17 tackles and one pass breakup this season. He started two of 12 games last season.

Collins, 6-2 and 198, will make his fourth start this season and has played in all nine games. It will be his seventh career start and 36th game played. Collins has 20 tackles, one for a loss, and six pass breakups. He has two career interceptions, both in his freshman season.

Freshman Ed Paris will likely move up to the No. 3 cornerback spot with Robinson out. LSU might also use junior safety Jalen Mills at corner. Mills played cornerback his freshman season and most of last year.
