The Hot Stove is heating up in a hurry.
The Cubs' pursuit of Jon Lester has been a frequent topic of conversation since even before the 2014 season ended, and with big-name free agents starting to ink deals around baseball, Lester's eventual landing place is of ever-increasing intrigue.
Comcast SportsNet's David Kaplan reported Tuesday night that the Cubs are aggressively pursuing the veteran left-hander and have offered a deal worth more than $135 million.
Latest on Lester: Solid east coast non-team source told me Cubs being very aggressive (135+). Team has been in radio silence... Won't talk.

Kaplan had info on Lester throughout the day Tuesday after initially reporting Tuesday morning that the Cubs made Lester that 'significant' offer larger than $135 million.
He added some clarification and more details Tuesday afternoon.
Just to be clear on Jon Lester. Good source says #Cubs made significant offer. 2nd source says $ not big factor for Lester. May be less.

Three MLB sources this afternoon tell me Lester likes Cubs and Chicago a lot but all 3 would be surprised if he didn't go back to Boston.

Stay tuned as the Hot Stove's temperature keeps rising.
