Two men were shot outside a North Carolina courthouse Tuesday and police have launched a search, according to reports.
Gunfire broke out sometime before noon in front of the Nash County Courthouse, about 45 miles northeast of Raleigh.
The condition of the men is unknown, though one was on a stretcher and speaking to authorities, Sheriff Dick Jenkins told WNCN-TV.
The courthouse is on lockdown after the breakout of violence and people streamed out of the building after the gunfire erupted, witnesses said.
'I heard what appeared to be gunshots - lots of gunshots,' Marie Hinkle, who works across the street, told WRAL-TV. 'There was a man down on the side street next to the courthouse. People ran out from the courthouse. They were screaming.'
Video from the scene show police using dogs to track a scent in nearby woods.
