The case of curious Colin and the Tennessee claw toy machine

A Tennessee laundry facility had an unexpected addition to its claw toy machine after a toddler managed to get himself stuck inside the coin-op arcade machine while trying to get one of the plush dolls inside.

18-month-old Colin Lambert was at the laundromat with his grandmother, Diane O'Neill, who says she turned her head momentarily to check a text message and next thing she knew the boy was gone.

'He decided that he was going to play with the flapping door of the claw machine. So he was playing 'Flap, flap, bang, bang,' and I had a text message. I looked down, flicked it, and I didn't hear anything,' said Colin's grandmother, Diane O'Neill. O'Neill, told WATE.

'All I could see was his feet. He had already crawled in,' she said. 'I grabbed his feet and he kicked my hand and got in. Climbed up over the glass partition and sat down in the toys.'

When the grandmother looked up she saw her grandson Colin sitting inside the machine amongst all the other plush animals he had been seeking to obtain.

'My biggest fear was that he was going to climb back over and try to get back out,' she said. 'The plastic they had that held the toys in is cracked and broken in several places. I was afraid he was going to try to climb over and get hurt.'

According to the boy's mom, Bridget Lambert , this isn't a huge surprise at all.

'It was a matter of time before he did something like this,' she said, adding that Colin is now the talk of their extended family. 'He's made his whole family proud, all the way up to New York, all the way down to Georgia and across to Nashville. Everybody's proud of him.'

According to Maryville Fire Deputy Chief David Hodges, fire-fighters were able to get the little boy out of the machine within minutes of arriving.

The best part of this amazing experience for the little boy- fire-fighters let him pick a toy from the machine once he was safe.
