Kevin Harvick on Chase intensity, fighting and Talladega

CONCORD, N.C. - After a wild finish and a wilder post-race fight in the garage area Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, there is the expectation that next week's race at Talladega Superspeedway will be somewhat epic.

It's the last race in the second round of the playoffs, and 12 drivers will be scrambling for eight third-round spots after emotions boiled over following Saturday night's Bank of America 500.

'I'm parking and watching it,' Charlotte race winner Kevin Harvick said of the Talladega race. 'It's going to be fun to watch. It's going to be crazy, offensive racing.'

Matt Kenseth, angry with Brad Keselowski for hitting his car on pit road following the race, attacked Keselowski in the garage area after the race.

Earlier, Denny Hamlin, Kenseth's teammate, chased Keselowski through the Sprint Cup garage building as they brought their cars in after the race. After exiting his car, Hamlin tried to walk toward Keselowski but was restrained by a crew member. Hamlin threw a towel at Keselowski.

'When you see Matt Kenseth mad enough to fight, you know that this is intense because that's way out of character for him,' Harvick said. 'When you see that emotion out of Matt Kenseth, you know that NASCAR has done the right thing to this Chase because everybody is on offense and gouging for every single position that you can get every lap.'

Asked if NASCAR should fine those involved in the Saturday night shenanigans, Harvick said, 'You're crazy. They (NASCAR officials) love it. They were fighting afterward. That's what it's all about. No way.'

Harvick said the pressures associated with the Chase are intense.

'It makes me want to puke every week is what it does,' he said. 'You look at the intensity that it has added every three weeks, and you know it's the right thing to do because it has been so intense and so crazy. My wife can tell you, it's like you go home and all you do, you lay up at night and you think about, OK, what do I have to do next week? What do we need to do? Who do I need to talk to? And it consumes everything that you do.'
