The independent candidate Eliot Cutler is now in the race for Maine governor. He stated a very interesting opinion on Wednesday. It seems that he will drop out of the race and it is okay if his supporters vote for another candidate. If they think that Eliot Cutler cannot win the race, they should vote for another candidate.
This is not an everyday statement. We are not used to hear something like that. The democrats along with their candidate Mike Michaud are accusing Eliot Cutler of being a spoiler. They say that he is only trying to get more supporters. But both of these parties want to unseat the current governor of the Republicans Paul LePage.
Anyway, Cutler made a very clear statement saying the following: 'I'm a realist about my chances, but I'll be damned if I will kowtow to party politics'. According to some statement which was released by some of his employees says that he will continue to campaign.
Back in 2010 if you remember, people decided to elect the Tea Party with 38% of the votes over Cutler and the Democrat Elizabeth Mitchell.
The former first lady Barbara Bush seems to be endorsing the current governor of the Republicans Paul LePage. She says lots of nice things about him. She said that LePage helped lots of hospitals and Maine businesses and at the end she added: 'Paul is blunt, direct. Like me.' She even endorsed him in a new ad from the Republican Governors Association.
Three candidates are battling for the Governor's position. But the results show that Michaud and Lepage are tied at 39%, while Cutler has only 14% of the supporters.
