PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. -
An investigator who led the Department of Homeland Security's internal review of the Secret Service's 2012 prostitution scandal resigned earlier this year after he was implicated in his own incident involving a prostitute, according to a report in The New York Times.
David Nieland resigned in August after Broward Sheriff's Office deputies saw him entering and leaving a building they had under surveillance as part of a prostitution investigation, the report claims.
Deputies later interviewed a prostitute who identified Nieland in a photograph and said he paid her for sex.
A spokesman for Homeland Security confirmed that Nieland resigned.
Nieland has not been charged by federal or local authorities in connection with the incident.
