COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton and Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley made sure to flatter each other during a simultaneous appearance at an event for a fellow Democrat.

But they also were careful to keep their distance at Thursday's get-out-the-vote rally in favor of Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown. Brown is hoping to succeed the term-limited O'Malley.

O'Malley and Clinton are both seen as potential Democratic contenders for the presidency in 2016.

O'Malley praised Clinton's past service as first lady, U.S. senator and secretary of state in his remarks to introduce Brown.

Clinton was equally complimentary of O'Malley, saying he and Brown had made a great team since taking office in 2007.

She also praised state laws that have established sweeping gun control, allowed same-sex marriages, and increased the minimum wage.
