Two 12-year-old girls are facing charges of attempted murder after police say a 12-year-old girl was held down and stabbed 19 times before crawling away to safety.

Police in Waukesha, Wis. believe the two girls, described as having an affinity for 'death and horror,' plotted out their friend's death for several months before luring her into the woods Saturday morning.

Once there, police say the girl was held down by one of the suspects while the other brutally stabbed her.

She suffered injuries to her arm, legs and torso, according to police.

Incredibly the child was able to escape by crawling out of the woods and to a road where she was discovered by a bicyclist around 9:50 a.m.

She was rushed into surgery and as of Monday afternoon remains in stable condition.

The two girls suspected in the twisted act near Rivera Drive and Big Bend Road were located on foot several hours later by a Waukesha County Sheriff's Deputy. The knife believed to have been used has also been recovered.

While authorities did not release a possible motive, they described the two girls as having an interest in a website that posts 'small stories about death and horror.'

They described the three girls, whose names are not being released at this time, as friends.

The two juvenile suspects are now being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. They had their first court appearance Monday afternoon.
