Man, 20, arrested in parents' deaths

A 20-year-old has been arrested in the fatal shootings of his parents at their home in a gated community in Katy.


The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said Ryan Walton was arrested Saturday in the Rosenberg area, about 20 miles south of Katy.


Walton faces two charges of murder. He was being held without bail in the Fort Bend County Jail. The bodies of 54-year-old Michael Walton and 52-year-old Lynda Walton were found early Thursday evening at their home, valued in tax records at $1.4 million.


Lubbock Missing woman's remains found

The husband of a 62-year-old woman missing since earlier this week has been arrested after her remains were discovered in a field near Lubbock.


The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports that the Lubbock County medical examiner on Friday identified human remains found in a field northwest of Lubbock as Shelley Myers Jordan, who has been missing since Monday.


Lubbock police said her husband, 65-year-old Danny Jordan, was arrested in her death. He remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Saturday on one count of murder.


According to court records, Shelley Jordan was granted guardianship of her husband, who was found to be mentally incapacitated in 2011.


Arlington Death of baby in wreck investigated

Arlington police are investigating the cellphone records of two drivers involved in traffic collision in which a baby in a stroller was hit and killed.


Police spokeswoman Cheryel Carpenter told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that investigators are also working with traffic engineers to determine whether the vehicles involved in Thursday's accident - a southbound Toyota pickup and a northbound Chrysler trying to turn left - had the green light.


Police say that after the vehicles collided, the pickup hit a pedestrian, 28, and his 7-month old son.


Springtown Reward set in death of nursing dog

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for clues leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot a nursing dog and left her body in a cage by a North Texas roadside.


The grim find was made Wednesday in Springtown, a town 25 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler says a school bus driver found the cage containing the body of the 3-year-old red shepherd mix and her 10 hungry, blood-caked puppies. The mother had been shot in the head.


Rio Grande City Honduran charged in assault on agent

Court records show that a Honduran man has been charged with assaulting a federal agent after fighting with him while trying to avoid an immigration arrest near Rio Grande City.


The Monitor in McAllen reports that the 18-year-old man went before a U.S. magistrate judge on Thursday and was formally charged with assaulting a federal officer and an immigration violation.
