The Garden State Mall has been evacuated and placed on lockdown after an unconfirmed report of shots fired on Saturday night, according to Bergen County Police.
Police officers in Paramus, N.J., escorted mall-goers to safety with their guns drawn just after 5 p.m.
Photos from the scene show a car on fire outside Macy's, but it's not known how it is related.
There is a staging area at the nearby baseball fields for people to be picked up by friends and relatives.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
