Bears turn attention to offense, draft Carey in Round 4

Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery made a move to solidify his offense Saturday, using his fourth-round pick on Arizona running back Ka'Deem Carey. The Bears were figured to be in the market to find a running back to come in as a possible back-up option to Pro Bowler Ka'Deem Carey.

Carey measured at 5-foot-9 and 207 pounds at the NFL combine in February. Last season, he was the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year.

Carey piled up 3,814 yards and 42 touchdowns in his final two seasons in college. He doesn't have elite speed but is a tough runner and presumably satisfied head coach Marc Trestman's desire to add a back-up running back with pass protection skills.

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock had a third-round grade on Carey and came away impressed from his review.

'I think he's had excellent production,' Mayock said. 'He's a tougher kid than I thought he was. He's got good feet. He comes downhill. And he's a guy who can make you miss. So I love the toughness.'

The Bears opened the draft on Thursday, selecting cornerback Kyle Fuller in the first round, then followed on Friday by drafting a pair of defensive tackles - LSU's Ego Ferguson and Arizona State's Will Sutton.

The Bears still have three picks remaining on Saturday, one in the fifth round (156 th overall) and two in the sixth (183 rd, 191 st).
