Yasiel Puig's season of discontent continued on Friday when the young Cuban superstar was reportedly benched for the Los Angeles Dodgers home opener after showing up late to the ballpark.

Another tweet, from Los Angeles Times Dodgers beat writer Dylan Hernandez, said Puig had the wrong time for the morning stretch.
I'm told Puig thought he was supposed to be here by 10. Stretch was at 9:40.- Dylan Hernandez (@dylanohernandez) April 04, 2014
Puig has been a polarizing player ever since making his Major League debut in 2013. He's made as many headlines for his awe-inspiring play as he has for his homerun antics, speeding violations and other clubhouse controversies. Last month, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly publicly called out Puig for making excuses after making bad plays. This benching is sure to only intensify the debate.
