ST. LOUIS - The 10th-seeded Stanford Cardinal used their size, muscle and zone defense to defeat Kansas 60-57 on Sunday, the No. 2 seed in the South.
Kansas was playing without injured big man Joel Embiid, who has been sidelined by a back injury since two games were left in the regular season. The Jayhawks had hoped to have him back had they advanced to the Sweet 16.

Kansas freshman sensation Andrew Wiggins was held in check most of the day. He had four points on 1-for-6 shooting. Tarik Black had 18 points for Kansas before fouling out.

Dwight Powell and Chasson Randle led the way offensively for Stanford.
The Cardinal will face Dayton in the Sweet 16 in Memphis.
