Longtime Obama aide to leave White House

President Barack Obama's deputy chief of staff will leave the White House later this year to pursue a career in the private sector.


Alyssa Mastromonaco previously served as director of presidential scheduling and advance at the White House and served in the same capacity during Obama's first presidential campaign.


Mastromonaco started working with Obama in early 2005 as the then-senator's scheduler.


Originally from New York, Mastromonaco got her start in national politics with Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign in 2004.
