The Boston Marathon bombing survivor who lost his legs and assisted authorities in identifying suspects is engaged and expecting a baby with his fiancee, ABC News reported.

Jeff Bauman, 28, and his fiancee, Erin Hurley, 27, told the Associated Press they're due on July 14 and are waiting to be surprised about the baby's sex.

'My mom loves it. My dad's going crazy,' Bauman said. 'I just want to be a good dad.'

Bauman and Hurley became engaged in February and are planning on getting married next year.

'We've got a lot going on. So we don't need to do everything all at once,' Hurley said.

The couple also sharing their exciting announcement on a Facebook page for Bauman.

Bauman is seen in one of the most iconic and widely shared photos from the tragic bombings in last year's marathon, getting rushed in a wheel chair by three strangers. He was standing near the finish line to watch Hurley finish the race when the bombs exploded.

A week before the one-year anniversary, Bauman's memoir, 'Stronger,' will be released.

Earlier this year, Bauman and Carlos Arredondo -- one of the three rescuers who pushed him to safety -- attended the State of the Union after being invited by President Obama.
