Caitlyn Marie Virts, 11, has been missing from her Baltimore area home since early Thursday morning. She's described as white, 5-feet tall and weighing 80 pounds.


An Amber Alert has been issued for an 11-year-old Maryland girl reported missing from her Baltimore-area home where the body of her mother was found.


Caitlyn Marie Virts and her father, Timothy Virts, 38, whom she's suspected of being with, are now wanted by police since her disappearance Thursday morning from Caitlyn's Dundalk home.

Authorities responding to a cardiac arrest call at the home around 9:13 a.m. say they located the body of Bobbie Jo Cortez, 36, but her 11-year-old daughter missing.


'Police are concerned for the safety of Caitlyn Marie Virts since she is not supposed to be with her father,' officers said in a release which stated that a homicide investigation is currently underway at the girl's home.

Caitlyn is described as white, 5-feet tall and weighing 80 pounds. She's possibly wearing glasses, but it is unknown what else she might be wearing.


Timothy Virts is described as a 6-foot-3, 280-pound white male. Police believe he's driving a black 1999 Dodge Durango with Maryland license plates 5AJ4458.

Police in Baltimore County say the body of Cortez was discovered in her bedroom with the cause and time of death not immediately known.


The 36-year-old had been living at the residence with her three children, one who is the missing child's twin sister.


For the past few weeks police say Timothy Virts has been living in Cortez's home with the children and two other unidentified adults.


Cortez's husband, Daniel Williams Cortez, is the man the black Dode Durango is registered under. He is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on various sex offense charges, according to police.
