Just hours after scooping three awards at the People's Choice Awards, Sandra Bullock was up bright and early and back on mother duty on Thursday.

The actress was still glowing as she dropped off her three-year-old son, Louis, at school in Los Angeles.

The 49-year-old, who was named Favourite Movie Actress for space drama Gravity, was casually chic in a green jacket with leather sleeves over a black jumper, black leggings and boots.

The beautiful brunette didn't bother with make-up for the morning run, and allowed her long tresses to fall around her face.

She wound a black scarf around her neck and hid her eyes from the morning sun behind dark glasses.

Little Louis, whom Sandra adopted as a single mother in 2010, looked adorable in a vivid yellow padded jacket, a blue sweatshirt emblazoned with guitars, distressed blue jeans and blue trainers with wrap over straps.

His mum pulled a cute grey and yellow monster-face hat with bobble ears on her toddler's head to keep him warm.

It was a very different scene from the night before at the Nokia Theater in downtown LA where Sandra picked up three awards in a star-studded ceremony.

Aside from the actress honour, she also nabbed a glass statuette for Favourite Movie Duo with George Clooney for Gravity and another for Favourite Comedic Movie for The Heat, which she shared with co-star Melissa McCarthy.

Next up for Sandra is the Golden Globes awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Sunday, where she is nominated for best actress in Gravity.

Director Alfonso Cuaron's stranded-in-space thriller also received the most nominations for the British Academy Film Awards, earning 11 including film, director and actress for Sandra.

The awards will be handed out February 16 at a ceremony at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.

Although Sandra is being showered with awards for her acting, the star recently revealed that the role she's happiest playing is mother to Louis.

In fact, she says she is open to the idea of having more children.

'If all of a sudden my house had eight kids in it, if it was OK with Louis and it felt like a good safe family, I would be fine with that,' she told E! News in September.

'It would be because that is what my home is for. So it is up to him. He is the boss of the house so I have to abide by his rules,' she added.
