Leonardo DiCaprio won the Golden Globe for best actor in a motion picture, comedy or musical for his full-throttle performance as highflying stockbroker Jordan Belfort in Martin Scorsese's 'The Wolf of Wall Street.'
'This is an incredibile, incredible honor,' said DiCaprio noting the other nominees as 'my fellow comedians.'
DiCaprio beat out Bruce Dern's turn as an aged curmudgeon in 'Nebraska,' Christian Bale's pudgy con man in 'American Hustle,' Joaquin Phoenix's futuristic lonely heart in 'Her' and Oscar Isaac's downbeat folk singer in 'Inside Llewyn Davis.' This was DiCaprio's 10th nomination for a Golden Globe and his second win, having earned his first for his performance in Scorsese's 'The Aviator.'

The last film screened for many critics and voting groups, 'The Wolf of Wall Street' set the awards season aflame from its very first showings. A brutally shocking look at the perils of excess, the film has been fanning a firestorm of controversy, and placing it in the category of comedy or musical couches it more clearly as satire.
Bruce Dern has been hitting the campaign trail hard in support of his role in Alexander Payne's 'Nebraska.' He plays a retiree who sets out with his adult son on a journey to collect what he is convinced will be his lottery winnings. Dern has been nominated for a Golden Globe three times, going all the way back to 1975 with 'The Great Gatsby.'
David O. Russell's 'American Hustle' opens with a close examination of the process involved in putting on the elaborate hairpiece and comb-over worn by Christian Bale's character throughout the film. The actor put on more than 40 pounds for his role as a con man who finds himself in over his head as a series of schemes spin out of his control. Bale previously won a Globe for his supporting turn in Russell's 'The Fighter.'
In what may be the saddest performance in the category, Joaquin Phoenix plays a man who falls in love with the artificial intelligence of his computer's operating system in Spike Jonze's 'Her.' The film's deep emotionalism, rooted in Phoenix's performance that often finds him alone onscreen, explores romance, technology and intimacy in the modern world. Phoenix won a Globe for his performance as Johnny Cash in 'Walk the Line' and has two other nominations.
The most musical performance among the nominees in the comedy or musical category, Oscar Isaac played guitar and did his own singing as a struggling folk singer in the Coen Brothers' 'Inside Llewyn Davis.' This was Isaac's first Golden Globe nomination.
