After numerous embarrassments to their McResource website, McDonald's released a statement through the site informing employees it was off the air on Wednesday, according to CNN.

Employees who visited the McResource site were greeted with a statement which read: 'We are temporarily performing some maintenance in order to provide you with the best experience possible. Please excuse us while these upgrades are being made.'

The latest embarrassment causing the shutdown of the website was a posted comment containing a graphic of a McDonald's burger, fries and a coke with the words 'Unhealthy choice,' under them. Next to it was a picture of a sub, salad and a water with the caption 'Healthier choice,' CNN reported.

Earlier this week McDonald was receiving negative press because the McResource site advises employees to not eat at McDonald's due to the negative effects it can have on their health, according to CNN.

'Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking,' the McResource website read, 'While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight.'

The statement on the website confirming the 'resource' site's closure also said: 'a combination of factors has led us to re-evaluate and we've directed the vendor to take down the website. Between links to irrelevant or outdated information, along with outside groups taking elements out of context, this created unwarranted scrutiny and inappropriate commentary. None of this helps our McDonald's team members.'

In July, the McResource budget planner for employees was criticized for 'being out of touch' with employee needs and spending habits, CNN reported.

'For starters, it didn't account for food and gasoline,' a CNN report on the issue said, adding that 'the second line on the sample budget leaves room for income from a second job, which many called an admission by the fast food giant that its workers can't live on its wages alone.'

NBC News reported earlier this month that the site was offering information on how much to pay a babysitter or a housekeeper, and even how much tip a pool cleaner should be given, CNN reported.

To add to the blow, the University of California Berkeley Labor Center and University of Illinois announced the results of a study in October which stated 52 percent of fast food workers receive public assistance for their family, like Medicaid or food stamps, CNN reported.
